When summer is in full swing and temperatures climb past 100, I love the option of a quick fresh meal without lots of preparation or cooking. Basil Pesto:
2 cups of fresh basil leaves from the garden
1/4 cup chopped nuts (any kind)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Blend in the blender until pasty
Saute a purple onion
Cook angel hair pasta, drain, don't rinse, mix with pesto
